"ADOPT A STREET"

by the 1st Kindergarten of Mournies

ACTION: “ADOPT A STREET”

The 1st Kindergarten of Mournies, decided to adopt Pergamou street.

We invited parents, students from our neighbour schools, representatives of the local authorities and all together we went out on our street to take action!

Some of our main sub-actions were

• collect litter
• recycle paper/ plastic and batteries
• prepare compost
• re use soil that was left on the street to plant flowers into …. old car tires!
• plant more flowers
• host a world children’ s  painting exhibition on Peace
• read  books on Peace
• sing songs  for responsibility and voluntarism
• clean  out graffiti from our street and our signs
• inform the local community about our actions and call them to support us

On Saturday November the 3rd our school staff  took part in the  "Education for the Environment and  Sustainability" workshop. Our participation meant to support our environmental education program  "SUSTAINABLE SCHOOL"

STUDENT ELECTIONS

On Monday October the 29th, the fullday program of our Kindergarten held student elections in order to vote for the Representative on Environmental Issues of our class. Candidates had the chance to present themselves and give us reasons why we should vote them for representing us on Environmental Issues! It was an excellent opportunity for all children to feel unique and special. They also had the chance to debate!!!!

WE ARE NOW  PROUD TO PRESENT OUR REPRESENTATIVE!!!!!!

After a while the eco club of our class decided to set groups, 
responsible for energy, litter, schoolyard, compost, paper/plastic recycling, battery recycling water, and citizenship matters!!!! Everybody wants to be pro-active FOR A SUSTAINABLE SCHOOL!!!!!!! Children your teachers are soooo proud of you!

What a busy day!!!

TUESDAY, OCTOBER the 30th,  2012

Meanwhile, back at school,a team of workers responsible for tree planting and   their Head -from the   Municipality of Chania- were adding herbs, trees and flowers in our gardens!

When we came back from the fieldtrip we were sooooooo excited  to see what they had accomplished!!!! MR YANNI ,THANK YOU and your TEAM!!!!! You did a wonderful job!

Our fieldtrip to MAICH

On Tuesday, October the 30th our Kindergarten visited the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chaniaand more specifically the  Mediterranean Plant Conservation unit. Children had the chance to see first hand the Seed Bank the Herbarium and the Botanical Garden of the MAICH.

we learned how the scientists collect the seeds from the plants how they study them on the stereoscope and how they conservate them. We saw some of our endemic and endagered flora species. At the end of the visit MAICH shared with us some herb seeds and some seeds of Pancratium maritimum" so that we can plant them in our Botanical Garden, back in  our schoolyard.  

ΥΓΡΟΤΡΟΠΟΠΟΙΩ ΤΗ ΣΥΜΠΕΡΙΦΟΡΑ ΜΟΥ_ Professional Development day on environmental issues

 On Saturday, October the 6th representative of our teachers  participated in the workshop : "ΥΓΡΟΤΡΟΠΟΠΟΙΩ ΤΗ ΣΥΜΠΕΡΙΦΟΡΑ ΜΟΥ-  Biodiversity and Threats on the  Wetland Habitat of Chania".The workshop dealed with sustainable management of  the local water resources. The host, Center  of Enviromental Education of Ierapetra-Neapoli, first introduced us to the subject and afterwards, took us to a fieldtrip to the Lake of Kourna, where we had the chance to explore the flora and fauna of the lake, first hand.

Our school joined this  program for the needs of our participation in  the international network Eco-Schools program,  as an educational resource targeted on Sustainable Use of Water Resources thematic field.

ΠΡΟΒΛΗΜΑ

Σε ένα απομονωμένο κομμάτι της αυλής έχουμε φυτέψει αρωματικά βότανα και φυτά που είναι δύσκολο να τα ποτίζουμε καθημερινά. Αν δεν τα ποτίζουμε θα μαραθούν

ΥΠΟΘΕΣΗ:

Αν σχεδιάσουμε και κατασκευάσουμε ένα μηχανισμό με ανακυκλωμένα υλικά για να τα ποτίζουμε από την έξω μεριά της πόρτας, τα φυτά δεν θα μαραθούν.

ΥΛΙΚΑ: Μαρκαδόροι, πίνακας, σωλήνες ράβδοι γυμναστικής, νεροπίστολα, κολλητική  ταινία, , σπάγγος, λάστιχο ποτίσματος, μαύρος πλαστικός σωλήνας,πλαστικά  δοχεία (ανακύκλωση) καρφιά. σφυρί-ψαλίδι-κοπίδι (μόνο η κυρία), πλαστικά μπουκάλια διαφορετικών μεγεθών

ΔΙΑΔΙΚΑΣΙΑ: Σχεδιάζουμε μέρη της κατασκευής και προχωράμε σε μικρές δοκιμαστικές εφαρμογές

 Αφού καταλαβαίνουμε ότι αν ενώσουμε διάφορα υλικά με ταινία το σύστημα λειτουργεί, προχωράμε στην κατασκευή  του μοναδικού συστήματος ποτίσματος!

Αφού το συναρμολογήσαμε, ώρα για εφαρμογή κι έλεγχο:

ΟΙΚΟΛΟΓΙΑ & ΟΙΚΟ- ΠΑΡΑΔΟΣΗ

 Σεπτέμβρης, ώρα για τρύγο και για πάτημα σταφυλιών! Η αμμοδόχος μας μετατρέπεται σε αυτοσχέδιο πατητήρι. Όσοι το επιθυμούν, ρίχνονται στη δουλειά! Μετά  φτιάχνουμε ένα δικό μας χωνί από λαιμό πλαστικού μπουκαλιού και μεταφέρουμε το "ζουμί από τα σταφύλια" σε ένα μπουκάλι....

Επειδή τίποτα δεν πάει χαμένο, ε με τις ρώγες που μας απέμειναν φτιάξαμε πολύπλοκα  τρισδιάστατα σχήματα (μήπως θυμίζουν λίγο το.... DNA?)

Η φετινή χρονιά είναι αφιερωμένη στην Αειφορία. Το 1ο Ολοήμερο Νηπιαγωγείο Μουρνιών  για 4η συνεχή σχολική χρονιά αναλαμβάνει και εφαρμόζει το πρόγραμμα περιβαλλοντικής εκπαίδευσης "ΟΙΚΟΛΟΓΙΚΑ ΣΧΟΛΕΙΑ- ECO SCHOOLS"

Οι ενότητες που θα μας απασχολήσουν είναι:

•  ΝΕΡΟ : Πηγή ζωής και Διαχείριση Υδάτινων Πόρων
• ΕΝΕΡΓΕΙΑ: ΗΛΕΚΤΡΙΚΗ_-ΑΙΟΛΙΚΗ_-ΗΛΙΑΚΗ_-ΥΔΡΟΔΥΝΑΜΙΚΗ
• ΑΠΟΡΡΙΜΑΤΑ: ΑΝΑΚΥΚΛΩΣΗ
• ΣΤΗΝ ΑΥΛΗ ΤΩΝ ΟΙΚΟΛΟΓΙΚΩΝ ΣΧΟΛΕΙΩΝ 

Η χρονιά ξεκίνησε δυναμικά! Σε συνεργασία με τη Σχολική Επιτροπή Α/θμιας Εκπ/σης Ν. Χανίων πραγματοποιήθηκε καθαρισμός των κήπων.

Τα παιδιά εξαρχής "μπήκαν στο κλίμα": Ώρα για κλάδεμαααααα! Όλοι βοηθούν όπως μπορούν! Μαζεύουμε τα κλαδιά και γινόμαστε για λίγο δέντρα! Και το διασκεδάζουμε και βοηθάμε στη Συντήρηση των κήπων μας!

 Μερικά κλαριά βασιλικού μέσα σε βαζάκι με νερό έκαναν ήδη  ρίζες!

 ΏΡΑ ΝΑ ΦΥΤΈΨΟΥΜΕ!

Κάπου εδώ ξεκινάνε τα προβλήματα.....

ΠΡΟΒΛΗΜΑ 1: 

                Το λάστιχο είναι πολύ μακριά, το αυτόματο πότισμα δε φτάνει μέχρι το σημείο που φυτέψαμε το βασιλικό, αν το ποτίσουμε με λεκάνη υπάρχει κίνδυνος να χαλάσει.... Τι κατασκευή θα  "επινοήσουμε";;;

Ο καταιγισμός ιδεών των "μικρών μας επιστημόνων" έριξε στο τραπέζι της συζήτησης  εξαιρετικές και ενδιαφέρουσες προτάσεις.Κάποιες ήδη δοκιμάστηκαν! Η  επιστημονική σκέψη κάνει την εμφάνισή της και βγαίνουν τα πρώτα συμπεράσματα... Ένα ρολό από χαρτί κουζίνας θα "οδηγήσει" το νερό στη ρίζα του φυτού. Το πρόβλημα όμως είναι ότι μετά από λίγο, το χάρτινο ρολό σχίζεται....

Δεύτερη συνεδρίαση της ολομέλειας μετά τη δοκιμή.

  Προτάθηκαν συγκλονιστικές πολύπλοκες κατασκευές που περιλάμβαναν:

• νεροπίστολα που θα ενώνονται  με χαρτοταινίες με σωλήνες
• σιδερένιοι σωλήνες που θα ενώνονται με χαρτοταινίες
• πλαστικοί σωλήνες (από τα όργανα γυμναστικής)
• χωνιά από τους λαιμούς πλαστικών μπουκαλιών (το είχαμε ήδη εφαρμόσει σε άλλη δράση)
• λάστιχα ποτίσματος

Αφού τα συγκεντρώσουμε και σχεδιάσουμε τη "συνδεσμολογία" τους θα προχωρήσουμε στην πολύπλοκη κατασκευή!

Μόλις ανακαλύψαμε, με έναν εξαιρετικά φιλικό προς το περιβάλλον τρόπο, πώς να κρατάμε τις μύγες μακριά από την τάξη μας ! 
Αντανάκλαση του φωτός και ανακύκλωση παλιών cd- Μύγες: 1-0!!!!
